Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
Is responsible for the pink coloration in the B12 products.
Das Cyanocobalamin is the most stable form of vitamin B12 and is produced through a bacterial fermentation process.
Vitamin B12 acts in the skin as a scavenger of nitric oxide and can therefore effectively inhibit inflammation directly in the uppermost layer of the skin. Thanks to a special technology, the large vitamin molecule is able to reach deeper layers of the skin.
Where does the pink-red coloration of the B12 products come from?
Pure cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) is a deep red–purple powder. When it is dissolved in water and then blended with oils and lipids to form an emulsion (cream or ointment), the characteristic pink coloration develops.
When Mavena B12 products are used correctly, the vitamin B12 is absorbed into the skin and leaves no colored residue. Since vitamin B12 is highly water-soluble, any coloration can be easily washed out during normal laundering.
Vitamin B3 (Niacin, Niacinamid)
Vitamin B3 helps the skin to regenerate.
It protects the skin from free radicals and helps prevent premature skin aging caused by UV exposure (photoaging).
Vitamin B3 also stimulates the skin to produce lipids, collagen, and elastin. It helps maintain well-hydrated, smooth, firm, and elastic skin. At the same time, it refines the appearance of pores, softens fine lines, and reduces the visibility of pigmentation spots.
Soothes itchy skin
It supports skin regeneration and strengthens the skin’s natural protective barrier.
Urea
Urea helps regulate the skin’s moisture balance and is particularly well suited for the care of very dry skin.
Urea is a natural component of the skin. However, today it is produced exclusively by synthetic methods.
Urea is formed during the body’s metabolic processes and is excreted via urine and sweat. When released through sweat, urea accumulates in the upper layers of the skin, where it binds moisture and helps regulate skin hydration as a natural moisturising factor (Natural Moisturising Factor, NMF).
Urea regulates hydration in dry and very dry skin.
Urea is particularly well tolerated by the skin. It is not associated with side effects or allergic reactions and additionally has soothing properties for irritated skin.
Due to its hygroscopic action, urea binds moisture within the skin and effectively protects it from dehydration, with rapid and high efficacy. By maintaining optimal hydration levels, it also supports proper skin function, as only sufficiently moisturised skin can preserve its natural barrier and protect the body against physical and chemical environmental stressors as well as pathogenic microorganisms.
At higher concentrations, urea additionally exhibits:
a keratolytic (exfoliating) effect,
as well as antimicrobial activity.
Urea as basic care for Atopic Dermatitis and Psoriasis
Thanks to its hygroscopic properties, urea helps to hydrate the skin by attracting and retaining moisture, thereby supporting the skin’s natural moisture balance. It can also promote gentle desquamation and help improve the removal of scales.
For this reason, Mavena uses urea in products designed for very dry or flaky skin and scalp, in combination with other high-quality ingredients such as Dead Sea salt or plant-based oils.
With the Hydro Shower Gel, Lipolotion, Intensivcream, as well as the Hydro Shampoo and Scalp Mask, Mavena has developed a complete care range tailored to the needs of people with very dry, flaky skin or scalp, including skin prone to psoriasis.
Salt from the Dead Sea
Dead Sea salt is also known as "white gold" and promotes healthy skin.
Already in ancient times, the healing effects of the minerals from the Dead Sea were known.
The Dead Sea contains a unique combination of natural minerals and trace elements. Dead Sea salt has an exceptionally high concentration of magnesium ions, which are an important component for the natural function of the skin. Through Mavena products, magnesium ions are supplied to the epidermis, helping to counteract skin dryness and flaking.
Especially for sensitive skin
Mavena uses valuable salt, extracted from the Dead Sea, where the mineral concentration is particularly high. This pure, magnesium-rich salt (46% magnesium chloride), along with other valuable minerals, forms an effective base for very dry and flaking skin conditions.
With the products Hydro Shower Gel, Lipolotion, Intensive Cream, as well as Hydro Shampoo and Scalp Mask, Mavena offers a complete skincare line specifically designed for the needs of individuals with very dry and flaky skin/scalp.
Hamamelis (Virginian witch hazel)
Hamamelis virginiana is a medicinal plant that has held an important place in the traditional medicine of North American Native people for centuries.
Witch hazel extract enhances the skin’s appearance
The Virginia witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is a medicinal plant that has held an important place for many centuries in the traditional medicine of North American Native peoples. Today, modern science has also confirmed the effectiveness of witch hazel.
Reduces skin redness and irritation and soothes the skin. Mavena products contain a high proportion of high-quality distillate or extract.
Solutions for a dry, itchy scalp
Virginia witch hazel has a wide range of uses, particularly for skin itching. On the skin, it has a soothing and refreshing effect.
Both the Scalp fluid and the mild Shampoo therefore contain witch hazel extract/distillate combined with moisturizing factors.
Marigold (Calendula officinalis)
The Mavena concept harnesses the power of the orange aster family plant.
The bright orange flowers of this plant have many beneficial properties.
Calendula rightfully belongs in every medicinal herb garden. It is one of the most versatile and effective plants when it comes to supporting the skin’s natural health.
Calendula is a natural ingredient that was already used as a care agent in ancient Greek, Roman, Arab and Indian cultures.
Solutions for stressed hands
Soothing, antioxidant flavonoids and terpenoids are the main components of calendula extract. Combined with the natural moisturizing factors urea and magnesium, Mavena Repair Cream leaves your skin soft and smooth.
Almond Oil
Almond oil provides moisture to the skin and keeps it soft and supple.
Mild almond oil from sweet almonds, of the highest cold-pressed quality, moisturises the skin and keeps it soft and smooth thanks to its unsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic acid.
At the same time, linoleic acid helps make the skin more resistant to germs that cause infections and to skin-damaging sunlight (UV rays).
Cosmetic almond oil is very well tolerated and has a replenishing (re-lipidising) effect. It is therefore also suitable for caring for dry, sensitive skin and delicate facial areas, such as the eye contour.
Prevents skin aging
Thanks to the vitamins it contains, including antioxidant vitamin E which neutralizes free radicals, almond oil helps fight premature skin aging (photoaging). In our Mavena B12 Lotion, almond oil soothes irritated skin.
Avocado Oil
The oil from the green fruit promotes skin cell regeneration and soothes itchy skin.
Avocado oil stimulates the skin's natural metabolism, promotes skin cell regeneration, and soothes itchy skin.
Avocado oil nourishes dry, cracked skin as effectively as skin with impaired natural barrier function. Thanks to its particularly high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids, including oleic acid, linoleic acid, and palmitoleic acid, avocado oil provides the skin with plenty of moisture – without leaving an unpleasant greasy film.
Chia see oil (Salvia Hispanica)
Chia seed oil contains a high proportion of anti-inflammatory alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) from the omega-3 fatty acid group.
Light chia seed oil contains an exceptionally high level of anti-inflammatory alpha-linolenic acid from the group of omega-3 fatty acids.
Chia seed oil provides the skin with particularly effective hydration and also has a soothing effect. It is very well suited for the care of mature, dry skin. It helps alleviate itching and redness, even in cases of atopic dermatitis and eczema.
Works against blemished skin
Thanks to its light character, chia seed oil positively influences natural sebum production. This is highly beneficial for blemished skin. Additionally, chia seed oil is cell-stimulating – it encourages the skin to regenerate. In our Mavena B12 Cream for the care of irritated, itchy skin areas, we combine chia seed oil with vitamins B12 and E.
Olive Oil
A good olive oil does not belong only in every kitchen – it also shines as an ideal ingredient in skincare products, especially for dry skin.
Olive oil has antibacterial properties, is rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and contains a high proportion of oleic acid. This makes it an ideal ingredient in skincare products, especially for dry skin.
Olive oil acts as an antioxidant, meaning it neutralizes free radicals responsible for premature skin aging (photoaging), thanks to antioxidants (free-radical scavengers) such as polyphenols combined with the radical-scavenging vitamin E. Very few natural oils are as effective in this skin-revitalizing role. It is believed to help protect the skin from UV radiation and may even support the repair of UV-induced damage.
Moisturizes dry skin
The essential fatty acids in olive oil provide the skin with moisture and lipids, helping it stay smooth, supple, and elastic. At the same time, olive oil protects the skin from dehydration and helps maintain the skin’s natural barrier. In our Lipolotion, we have combined olive oil with highly effective moisturizing ingredients such as evening primrose oil and borage seed oil. The Lipolotion is therefore particularly suitable for the care of dry, itchy skin.
For very dry areas of the skin, such as elbows or feet, we developed the Mavena Intensive Cream made with shea butter and olive oil.
As a natural remedy, olive oil has also proven effective for dry scalp: leave it on overnight, then rinse it off in the morning with a gentle moisturizing Hydro Shampoo. It soothes and helps restore balance to the scalp.
Shea Butter
The shea tree grows in the dry savanna belt of West Africa. From its nut, valuable fat (shea butter) with anti-inflammatory properties is obtained.
Shea butter helps the skin regulate its moisture balance. It replenishes lipids and soothes irritated and dry skin.
On sensitized skin, shea butter has a particularly calming effect. It provides intensive hydration and smooths even extremely dry, flaky areas of skin, such as the elbows.
Strengthens the natural skin barrier
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, shea butter is especially well suited for the care of skin with an impaired natural protective barrier.
Combined with other high-quality oils, such as chia seed oil, the shea butter in our Mavena B12 Cream for irritated and itchy skin areas helps restore the skin’s compromised barrier function.
For basic care or for extremely dry areas such as feet or elbows, the Mavena Intensive Cream with an additional 8% urea provides extra moisture and is particularly suitable.
Cupuaçu butter
Discover the cupuaçu tree from the western Amazon. The fat obtained from its seeds is also known as “white cocoa.”
(Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed Butter)
Cupuaçu butter helps the skin regenerate when the natural skin barrier—and therefore its protective function—is impaired.
This effect is supported by the phytosterols contained in cupuaçu butter, the fat derived from the seeds of the cupuaçu tree native to the western Amazon. In addition, cupuaçu butter soothes stressed and irritated skin and alleviates related discomfort, such as redness.
Keeps the skin supple
Thanks to its exceptional ability to retain water, cupuaçu butter provides the skin with abundant moisture, keeping it plump, soft, and elastic. As a result, mature, dry, and sensitive skin also benefits from our Mavena B12 Face Cream with cupuaçu butter and vitamin B12.
The light Mavena B12 Lotion with cupuaçu butter is suitable as a basic care product for skin prone to atopic dermatitis and eczema. The antioxidants contained in cupuaçu butter help neutralize free radicals, thereby slowing premature skin aging (photoaging).
