The two most common factors are:
***Age: The following three mechanisms, in particular, promote dry skin with age:
- Sebum production naturally decreases with age.

- Sweat glands produce less sweat.
**Weather conditions: Especially in winter, many people have to struggle with dry skin. The cold, dry air outside, combined with artificially heated air inside, damages the skin and dries it out.
